Full house on 7 October at the Alice-Salomon-Berufskolleg: Around 750 students explored their future in healthcare and nursing at Bochum’s care fair. And it wasn’t just talk — there was hands-on experience, real questions, and applications on the spot!

24 exhibitors were on site. Whether hospitals, care facilities, or social organisations: the young people had concrete contact persons right in front of them. Instead of countless flyers and anonymous information, there were genuine conversations at eye level. And that’s exactly what went down really well.

Anyone who wanted to could submit applications directly or even secure internship placements on the spot. Some received invitations for follow-up interviews in November — a real springboard into the future! Particularly exciting: care professions could be tried out live. With a 3D camera, performing chest compressions, or at the hospital bedside, it quickly became clear: nursing is versatile, full of responsibility, and anything but boring.

The fair was organised by the alliance Bochum bewegt Pflege (Bochum Moves Care) — together with partners from the industry, the Bochum Employment Agency, and the Regional Agency Middle Ruhr Area, hosted by Herne.Business.

Conclusion:

“The work that caregivers do is of inestimable value to our society” (Karl-Josef Laumann)
