With “Pommes & Perspektive,” the Herne and Bochum Youth Employment Agencies are bringing young people and local businesses together in an unconventional setting: Instead of a traditional career fair, the event takes place at a French fry stand—featuring one-on-one conversations, short lines, and concrete opportunities to start an apprenticeship or find a job.

The kickoff event on October 5, 2026, will initially focus on the challenges and opportunities surrounding youth unemployment in the Ruhr region. This will be followed by the first job speed-dating session.

The event marks the start of a series of events in Herne and Bochum. Additional speed-dating sessions are planned for November and December 2026, as well as January 2027. The series will conclude in February 2027.
